Conference
SKEMA Business School, 60 Rue Fedor Dostoïevski, Sophia Antipolis, France
Riviera DEV is a tech conference featuring 3 days of tech talks, workshops & trainings.
It takes place in Sophia Antipolis (French Riviera), next to the French Alps and by the Mediterranean sea.
Monday 06 July: "Deep Dive" day
- Deep Dive Sessions: intensive 3-hour sessions where an expert focuses much more extensively into a subject than is possible during regular conference talks.
- Hands-on Labs: bring your own laptop and code during these practical 3-hour hands-on sessions under the tutelage of an expert. These labs give you the chance to delve into a specific technology or methodology.
Tuesday 07 July & Wednesday 08 July: "Conference" days
- Keynotes: 20-minute sessions designed to inspire and spark thoughts.
- Tech talks: 50-minute sessions focusing on a range of different technologies, practices and methodologies.
- Quick talks: shorter and dynamic 25-minute presentations.
- "We're not just coders" workshops: Riviera DEV's signature! They don't directly relate to development but are mostly driven by developers. Their goal: have some fun during these intense days while discovering new horizons.
Don't forget to book your Monday for the welcome dinner at the beach and your Tuesday evening for the cocktail buffet with live music: that's all inclusive and offered to any speaker!
Submission rules
Travel costs
When you submit a talk at Riviera DEV, you may opt to ask us for travel budget. We are a non-profit volunteer conference with a limited travel budget, so if your company can pay for travel, this is better. If not, we will do our best to accomodate travel budget requests given our budget, but it is not guaranteed.
Travel budget requests must be given before the CFP closes, and in Euros (€). They will be taken in consideration as part of the talk selection. Obviously, do not book your travel before you know if a talk is accepted or not. We may come back to you to discuss your travel budget request if we cannot meet it but would really like your talk. If your talk is accepted, your final travel costs may naturally change within reason from your original estimates, to account for the price differences between the CFP submission and the CFP acceptance, but this should be as small a difference as possible.
We will not accept any travel budget request after the CFP closes. The time for that is before.
Quarkus tracks
Please only submit a talk on the Quarkus tracks if your talk is about Quarkus, or if you have been explicitly invited by the CFP team. This is a sponsored track, and as such, unlike the other non-Quarkus tracks, the selection team is different from the Riviera DEV tracks.
Formats
- Tech talk (50 min)
- Come present a topic you care about in one of our two tracks. From diving into the JVM internals to presenting the latest cool JS framework running inside a container, we are open to a wide spectrum of topics.
- "Deep dive" session (180 min)
- Deep dive at the heart of an exciting topic. The format we propose here allows you to make a comprehensive presentation, which can cover a large topic, while allowing many concrete examples.
- Hands-on workshop (180 min)
- Bring your attendees further along with concrete application of a subject you want to share. Your attendees come with laptops and have Wi-Fi. You can communicate your pre-requirements for attendees to install before the workshop.
- Keynote
- An inspiring opening talk, often less technical.
- "We're not just coders" workshop (50 min)
- We're not just passionate about code: we have other passions. Cooking sushi, teaching yoga, picking locks, or building guitars... if you love doing it, others will love hearing about it. Let us know if you have specific constraints.
- Quick talk (25 min)
- 25 minutes to give an introduction on your favourite framework or tool. In this format, you can do live coding, show code or give an introduction with entry points for the attendees to delve deeper.
